The Karnataka Rajya Vijnanika Samshodhana Parishat, in collaboration with several organizations, is organizing the world’s first telescope-making training camp, “I Am a Scientist 2025.” This unique initiative will give school and college students the opportunity to make telescopes simultaneously, aiming to set records in the Asia Book of Records, India Book of Records, and World Book of Records.

Around thirty eminent scientists and resource persons will guide the participants. The telescopes crafted during the camp will be taken home by the students. A total of 152 students and 60 teachers from across Karnataka are set to take part, gaining daily opportunities to interact with leading scientists.

Shri Hulikal Nataraj, President of the Karnataka Rajya Vijnanika Samshodhana Parishat and the driving force behind this program, said “Since the beginning of my teaching career, I have worked to nurture scientific curiosity among children. Through ‘I Am a Scientist 2025,’ each participant will build a telescope, deepening their interest in space. This landmark initiative will set a world record while inspiring future scientific minds. We are delighted to welcome these budding scientists from every district of Karnataka, with the hope that they will lead tomorrow’s scientific revolution.”

The program will be inaugurated on Wednesday, October 1, 2025, by Hon. N.S. Bosaraju, Minister for Science and Technology. On the same occasion, Hon. Madhu Bangarappa, Minister for School Education and Literacy, will distribute telescope kits to students, while Hon. K.H. Muniyappa, Minister for Food and Minister in-charge of Bangalore Rural District, will hand over uniforms.

The nine-day camp will run from October 1 to October 9, 2025. Throughout the program, students will interact with distinguished scientists including Former ISRO Chairman Dr. A.S. Kiran Kumar, Dr. Vasundhara Bhupathi, Dr. Neeruj Mohan, Dr. S.B. Dandin, Dr. Prabhakar Sanguru Math, and Dr. K.P.J. Reddy.

Other dignitaries expected to attend include Chikkaballapur MP Dr. K. Sudhakar, Doddaballapur MLA Dheeraj Muniraju, Bharat Scouts and Guides President P.G.R. Scindia, Karnataka Science and Technology Academy President Dr. Rajasab, and retired IAS officer Dr. C. Somashekar.
