Bangalore based Vijaya Bank announced opening of 213 Aadhaar enrolment and updation centres in its branches across the country. To facilitate customers and general public for getting new Aadhaar numbers or for updating their existing Aadhaar details, banks are putting up such centers inside their branches. Citizens can make use of these centres for getting their Aadhaar number and making modifications, if any, in Aadhaar records, it added.
The first such centre for Vijaya Bank was inaugurated today at Indira Nagar by the Deputy Director General of UIDAI Sri Pronav Mohanty in the presence of Bank's MD & CEO Shri R A Sankara Narayanan and Executive Director Shri Y Nageshwar Rao, and at Kalkaji-New Delhi by the Regional Manager Shri Sideshwar Patra.
Aadhaar ensures residents including poorest & the most marginalised to have an access to the benefits and services they are eligible to. The key objective of constituting UIDAI is to extend the delivery of services to the currently excluded. The total Aadhaar Enrolment of 118.19 Crore of the population by UIDAI is a great achievement towards financial & social inclusion; a mission towards good governance & structured and targeted delivery of services/benefits and of subsidy, thus it’s a visionary path towards enhancing social & economic justice to each & every citizen of India.
The government has also notified that all the Current and Saving Accounts are not only to be seeded with Aadhaar Number but also authenticated before December 31, 2017, failing which such non-compliant accounts would be made inoperative.
