Governor Presents Honorary Doctor of Letters (D.Litt.) to Karnataka Legislative Assembly Speaker U.T. Khader

The Hon'ble Governor of Karnataka, Shri Thaawarchand Gehlot, today presented the honorary Doctor of Letters (D.Litt.) degree to the Hon'ble Speaker of the Karnataka Legislative Assembly, Shri U.T. Khader. The degree, conferred by Bangalore University as part of its 60th Convocation, was formally handed over at a special ceremony held at the Raj Bhavan Banquet Hall

In his address, the Governor extended warm congratulations and remarked, "Conferring the prestigious and honourable title of Doctor of Letters (D.Litt.) is the highest recognition of your scholarship and contributions to society, the state, and the nation. This honour reflects your continuous work, creativity, and exceptional intellectual ability. Though you hail from a respected and popular political family, you have earned distinction through your personal commitment, simplicity, and constant engagement with the people."


He further lauded Shri U.T. Khader's journey, stating, "Since your student days, your involvement in youth organisations and social activities has shaped your path in public life. Emerging as a strong, sensitive, and credible leader in Karnataka politics, your five consecutive terms in the Legislative Assembly demonstrate the people's trust and your sustained outreach. As Speaker, you have championed a culture of dialogue, tolerance, and harmony. Through your conduct of Assembly proceedings, you have shown that despite differences of opinion, our commitment to the Constitution, democracy, and public welfare must remain steadfast. Your seriousness, sensitivity, and innovative approach continue to enrich society, the state, and the nation."


Highlighting the significance of the honour, the Governor added, "This degree awarded by Bangalore University recognizes your years of dedicated public service, administrative integrity, and multifaceted contributions to society. This D.Litt. will inspire future generations, showing how work done with sincerity and perseverance can leave a deep and lasting impact. I once again congratulate you on this prestigious recognition. May your experience and wisdom continue to guide society and serve the national interest in the days ahead."


The ceremony was attended by the Hon'ble Speaker Shri U.T. Khader Farid, Vice Chancellor of Bangalore University Dr. Jayakar S.M., and several distinguished guests.
