The Governor was addressing the felicitation ceremony organised by the Directorate of NCC (Karnataka & Goa) to honour participants from Karnataka and Goa who took part in the Inter-Directorate Sports Shooting Championship.
Highlighting the significance of the NCC, the Governor stated that it is the largest disciplined youth organisation in the country, working tirelessly for national security and service since its inception. "Its mission is to develop character, discipline, courage and selfless service in the youth, creating a trained and motivated group ready to serve the nation irrespective of their chosen careers," he said.
Emphasizing the importance of unity and discipline, he noted, "These values strengthen us in every challenging situation and guide us towards success. Shooting sports further reinforce these principles—focus, composure and confidence are essential not only on the field but in every aspect of life."
He further remarked that the rapidly changing world presents new challenges to the youth, and NCC has been a guiding force in supporting and preparing them. "NCC not only creates awareness about military values but also teaches efficient ways of functioning. By nurturing leadership and integrity, it has enabled youth to excel in education, sports and social service, becoming symbols of patriotism, unity and dedication," he said.
Calling upon the cadets to uphold national service, the Governor observed, "Our youth are the nation's greatest asset. The focus required before every shot is a lesson for life. Just as you steady your breath before aiming, we must steady our emotions and thoughts to contribute meaningfully to the nation."
The Governor commended NCC cadets for their active participation in environmental conservation, blood donation, cleanliness drives, disaster management and social service. "NCC cadets have exemplified that service and discipline are true values of life. Let us continue to serve the nation by upholding the ideals of unity, character, service, duty and leadership," he urged.
He also congratulated the Karnataka and Goa NCC Directorate Cadet Shooting Team for their remarkable performance in the Inter-Directorate Sports Shooting Championship. "Your outstanding talent, sportsmanship and camaraderie are inspiring. This achievement reflects your discipline, concentration, courage, hard work and patriotism.
