"The true reward of a Scout or Guide lies in serving society," the Governor emphasized, while addressing the felicitation ceremony of District Chief Commissioners, District Secretaries and Leader Trainers, organized by the Bharat Scouts and Guides, Karnataka, at Raj Bhavan today.
Highlighting the century-long legacy of Bharat Scouts and Guides, the Governor praised the organization for nurturing physical fitness, moral values, leadership qualities, and a spirit of dedication among the youth. Inspired by the principle of "Service is Dharma", the movement has become a beacon for community engagement in Karnataka through initiatives such as disaster relief, environmental protection, health awareness, blood donation drives, cleanliness campaigns and other community services.
On this occasion, the official website of Bharat Scouts and Guides was launched. Leaders who had rendered significant service in strengthening the movement across Karnataka were also honored. "This recognition is a symbol of your tireless work and dedication. It carries with it a greater responsibility to continue uplifting society by living the values of Scouting and Guiding," Shri Thaawarchand Gehlot remarked.
Quoting Scouting founder Robert Baden-Powell and Swami Vivekananda, the Governor underscored the importance of character, loyalty, service and organizational spirit in nation-building. "Bharat Scouts and Guides is doing exemplary work in shaping our youth with these very ideals," he said.
Acknowledging the effective implementation of the movement under the leadership of Chief Minister Shri Siddaramaiah and his team, the Governor called upon all members to remain committed to selfless service and be ever-ready to contribute wherever needed.
The event was graced by Dr. K.K. Khandelwal, Chief National Commissioner, Bharat Scouts and Guides; Shri P.G.R. Scindia, State Chief Commissioner; Dr. M. Mohan Alva and several distinguished dignitaries.
