RVU launches new-age School of Economics and Finance, Offers industry-ready UG and PG programmes

RV University has launched a new-age School of Economics and Finance for bright students who aspire to meet dynamic demands of the industry. It has appointed Professor Dwarika Uniyal, who has over 20 years of experience in the academia and industry,as the Founding Dean of that School.

This School offers a balanced mix of three undergraduate, two postgraduate and a Ph.D. programme.In the current year, it will offer B.A. (Hons.), (Economics), B. Com (Hons.) and B.B.A. (Hons.), besides a full-time and part-time Ph.D. programme.In 2022, it will start M.A. (Economics) and M.B.A. programmes.


The curriculum has been carefully designed anticipating the fast-evolving needs of the industry. Students of B.B.A. (Hons.) will specialize in Entrepreneurship, and Finance with career tracks in FinTech, Value Investing, Banking and Insurance. M.B.A. students will have choices to specialize in Finance with career tracks in Equity Research, Investment Banking, FinTech and Corporate Finance.


Additional electives from the School of Liberal Arts and Sciences, and the School of Design contribute to make this programme a well-rounded one, thanks to multi-disciplinary and inter-disciplinary approach. The School proposes to go in for add-on Certifications from international Associations and Industry/Trade bodies.


Programmes are in alignment with the New Education Policy already and have been created to keep three key elements of “Knowing, Doing and Being” in perfect harmony. Students will be exposed to real-world through immersion programmes, field visits, live projects, and summer as well as autumn internships. The School is planning to launch an entrepreneurship centre along with an incubation lab to foster the spirit of entrepreneurship at an undergraduate level itself.


Welcoming the establishment of this School of Economics and Finance, Professor Y.S.R. Murthy, Vice Chancellor, RV University said, “The aim of RV University is to offer truly differentiated and relevant programmes to our students, which will fast-track their careers. All programmes and Schools have been carefully planned to not only keep pace but to stay ahead of the requirements of the industry. We are excited to establish the School of Economics and Finance which we believe has vast potential to emerge as the flagship School in RV University soon”.


Elaborating further on the prospects for students, Prof. Murthy said, “We are engaged with leading Banks, Insurance Companies and other online trading companies to co-create curriculum which will meet the needs of job market. We have also forged MoUs with a number of corporates. Our existing and proposed international collaborations will offer a multi-country learning experience for a truly globalised workplace. We have also instituted 100 scholarships for meritorious students and those who are impacted by COVID-19 in the commencement year itself. I hope students will make full use of these exciting opportunities.”


An equally exuberant Professor Dwarika Uniyal, the Founding Dean of the School of Economics and Finance, RV University said “I am excited with the tremendous potential of this School to create new benchmarks in the programmes we offer.
