Global award for Rainbow hospital for saving water and energy

Since hospitals operate 24/7 they consume 2.5 times the energy of an equivalent commercial building. But medical facilities can provide state-of-the-art treatment while minimizing energy and water use if the right decisions are made at the design stage

When hospitals across the country are known to be water and energy guzzlers, a city-based hospital has achieved what was thought to be impossible. Rainbow Children's Hospital has turned out to be a model as it is saving 32 per cent more water and has cut down energy usage by 27 pc! 


As a result, Bengaluru's prestigious Rainbow Children's Hospital became the first hospital in the country to achieve EDGE Certification by IFC-The World Bank Group. Rainbow Children’s Hospital Marathalli Bangalore, 200 bedded dedicated mother and child hospital becomes first hospital in the country to achieve coveted EDGE Certification ( Excellence in Design For Greater Efficiencies) today in a function organized by GBCI ( Green Business Certification Inc, USA) at ITC Windsor Bangalore. Rainbow Hospital received the award for its exemplified achievement in the following areas-27% Energy Savings, 32% Water  Savings, 26% Less Embodied energy in materials. Neeraj Lal (Cluster Head & Vice President)-Bangalore Operations received the award.
