On the occasion of International Women’s Day, Fortis Hospital, Bannerghatta road conducted a fitness & self-defense session for women in association with cult.fit. The initiative was aimed at educating women on self-defense and importance of taking up fitness activities to stay fit. Fitness experts from cult.fit trained 200+ women that included students, teachers, senior citizens, NGOs and various women groups.
International Women's Day is celebrated every year on March 8 celebrate the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women. The day also marks a call to action for accelerating gender parity. This year’s tagline is #PressforProgress that focuses on Challenges and opportunities in achieving gender equality and the empowerment of rural women and girls.
Dr Manish Mattoo, Zonal Director, Fortis Hospitals, Bangalore said, “Hectic lifestyle of urban women and relative lack of awareness among rural women are the reasons why women become neglect their own health. Fitness initiatives like these should encourage women to reassess their lifestyle choices and care for themselves.”
