The Mudra Promotion Campaigns are scheduled to be held at 50 locations during 27.9.2017 to 17.10.2017 throughout the country. In Karnataka it has been arranged at 3 locations, one to-day (7.10.2017) at Bangalore and other two programmes are scheduled at Hubli on 12.10.2017 and at Mangalore on 16.10.2017.
The MUDRA Promotion Campaign commenced with warm welcome to the Chief Guest and other dignitaries, participants by Sri Ch S.S. Mallikarjuna Rao, Executive Director, Syndicate Bank. In his welcome address, he briefed about the financial inclusion schemes like Pradhan Mantri Jan-Dhan Yojana, Pradhan Mantri MUDRA Yojana, Stand-up India & Social Security Schemes namely Pradhan Mantri Jivan Jyothi Bima Yojana, Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana, & Atal Pension Yojana programme of Govt of India, which are ensuring access to various financial services like availability of basic savings bank account, access to need based credit, remittances facility, insurance and pension to the excluded sections i.e., weaker sections & low income groups at affordable cost.
Under Stand-up India, the Banks in Karnataka have sanctioned 432 cr to 2,007 beneficiaries since inception, of which 355 are belonging to SC, 74 to ST and 1,578 are Women beneficiaries.
Under Social Security Schemes, namely, Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana (PMJJBY) the Banks in Karnataka have enrolled 36 lakh beneficiaries. Totally 12,105 claims amounting to ` 242 cr have been settled under the scheme. Similarly, under Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana (PMSBY), the Banks have enrolled 71 lakh beneficiaries. Totally 2,499 claims have been settled under the scheme & under Atal Pension Yojana (APY), the Banks have enrolled 4 lakh beneficiaries under the scheme as on 31st August 2017.
Ananth Kumar, Honb’le Union Minister for Chemicals, Fertilizers & Parliamentary Affairs in his address congratulated the Banks and other stakeholders having brought the Karnataka State to Number One position in loan disbursements under MUDRA, a flag ship programme of the Govt of India. He lauded the performance of the Banks in the State under PMJDY, PMJJBY, PMSBY, APY, Stand-up India.
In his address he told that MUDRA is a unique scheme where the borrower need not provide collateral security and has encouraged the easy credit flow to small and micro entrepreneurs to start up their business. He further said that MUDRA has proved as an instrument in generation of employment in the country. He requested all the Banks to give more thrust in extending credit flow under MUDRA to weaker sections of the society.
He also requested the Banks to enroll more beneficiaries under Social security schemes, namely, PMJDY, PMJJBY, PMSBY, APY to build a universal social security system, targeted especially for the poor and the under-privileged.
He said that post demonetisation, digital push has been given under Digital India Programme, with a vision to digitally empower a less cash society.
P.C. Mohan, Hon’ble MP of Bengaluru Central Constituency in his address lauded the performance of the Banks in the State on flagship programme of the Govt of India which has been very helpful to the downtrodden people. He requested the Banks to continue their efforts to bring true changes in the society.
During the programme, token loan sanction letters were distributed to the beneficiaries of various Banks under MUDRA & Stand-up India programme. Claim settlement under Social security schemes were also handed over to the claimant.
