Kengal Hanumanthiah Memorial Trust, established with the aim of “Play & Learn” has organised “Kengal Cup” tennis ball tournament will be played on February 9 and 10 from 12 pm to 8 pm at Malleshwara grounds in Bangalore. 


Addressing a press conference Trust founder-president and KPCC spokesperson Kengal Shreepada Renu said that as many as 16 teams will participate in the 8-overs tournament vying for the Kengal Cup with a first prize money of Rs 1 lakh. 


He said that the tournament was in memory of late Kengal Hanumanthaiah was the first elected Chief Minister of the State, who was instrument in building Vidhana Soudha, the State Secretariat. 


Mr Shreepada Renu said that through this tournament, he hope to bring awareness among the generation about the contribution of Kengal Hanumathaiah for the development of the State and the country. There will be an entry fee of Rs 5,000 for the participating team, he added. 


In the valedictory function of the tournament former Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, KPCC President Dinesh Gundu Rao and Minister D K Shiva Kumar, Deputy CM Parameshwar, BDA Chairman S T Somshekhar, Rajya Sabha Member & AICC General Secretary B K Hariprasad are participating.


In this occasion few renowned sportsmen will also be honoured.
