Inorbit Mall, Whitefield in association with Rotary Whitefield Central recently organized a social campaign “Plastic Free Whitefield” – an initiative to spread the message of plastic free environment and reduce landfill. The two day campaign had some exceptional activities that encouraged people to avoid the use of plastic for a better tomorrow. 22 vendors from across Bangalore, Mumbai, Pune, and Ghaziabad exhibited and sold some exceptional plastic free products. Products ranging from alternate to disposable diapers, low cost women hygiene products, recycled stationery and home products to name a few were available for sale. The stalls put up buy the vendors received some exceptional response with visitor doing extensive shopping for ecofriendly products.
Another highlight of the campaign was The Best out of Waste Exhibition where students from various schools participated. These kids exhibited project demonstrations, collage making to promote a plastic free environment. There were also live performances that spread the message of ‘say NO to plastic’. Kids from Vydehi School and Sri Sri Ravishankar Vidya Mandir were felicitated for the best presentation. Shoppers also got a chance to be a part of a session with Dr. DB Naik, Head, Electron & Reactor chemistry, BARC, Mumbai, who demonstrated how a Thermocol can be reused for making artefacts and Pothole Raja who showed how to use plastics to fill potholes.
Commenting on this initiative Mr. Naviin Ibhrampurkar, Head of Marketing and Corporate Communication said, “Inorbit is happy to host and support such an initiative. We as responsible citizens of the society should do our bit to protect the environment and create a better future for the coming generations. This joint initiative hopes to bring about awareness of anti-plastics alternates and to rid Whitefield of this menace as soon as possible. It is heartening to see the groundswell of public support for this campaign.”
