The Skin Rath has an LED screen which will show educational documentary and street play videos to create awareness among public. The doctors aboard the Rath will be making people aware about myths and facts of acne, fungal infections, leprosy, Vitiligo, and other skin problems. The van had covered areas like Delhi-Guru gram-Karnal-Sonipat-Mumbai-Pune-Goa and reached Bengaluru. From here, it will go to places like Chennai-Hyderabad-Kolkata-Guwahati-Patna-Lucknow-Gwalior-Agra-Noida etc.
Speaking on the occasion, IADVL Karnataka President Dr Ramesh Bhat said, "Skin Rath is aimed to bring awareness about skin health. With incidents of quackery increasing, we also want to educate people to visit only a qualified dermatologist for any skin problem. Vitiligo, commonly known as leukoderma, is a disorder that affects skin pigmentation. There is a considerable stigma attached to the disease and its patients are often outcast. Hence, we want to put an end to these stigmas through the Rath," added Reddy.
Meanwhile, Bengaluru will be hosting the prestigious Global Dermatology Conference- DERMACON INTERNATIONAL. This prestigious congress seeks to educate dermatologists about important aspects of skin diseases; their treatments up gradation of knowledge and deliver the best treatment to patients.
