A B2B Meeting and Nepal Presentation Program was organized by Hotel Association Nepal (HAN) in association with Nepal Tourism Board (NTB) on 19 November 2018 in Bengaluru, India with the objective of promoting tourism in Nepal. The objective was to bring together eminent personalities from tourism communities from both India and Nepal, especially to enhance business networks and find business opportunities in the field of tourism. Generous support was provided from the Hotel Association of India, Embassy of Nepal in Delhi and Nepal Airlines to make this event a success.
Keeping in mind the Government of Nepal’s announcement of ‘Visit Nepal Year 2020’ to garner global attention towards Nepal to foster tourism, the event addressed the vast competitiveness of the tourism and hospitality industry as well as the pressure to reinvent Nepal’s tourism industry and produce new experiences. Special emphasis was put on promoting Nepal’s many tourism attractions: its unique geography that provides an exceptionally rich diversity in flora and fauna; the country’s rich cultural heritage sites that include seven UNESCO World Heritage Sites in the Kathmandu valley and two World Heritage pioneering national parks in the Himalayas and the Terai; its establishment as a renowned Hinduism and Buddhism circuit consisting of two significant sites of worship,Pashupatinath Temple dedicated to Lord Shiva and Lumbini, the birthplace of Lord Buddha; and, its popularity as an ultimate adventure destination consisting of one of the world’s longest zip lines, white water rafting on some of the wildestmost spectacular rivers in the world and jungle safaris with the chance of experiencing unique wildlife encounters.
Furthermore, HAN shared how Lonely Planet, a leading source in global tourism, has ranked Kathmandu number 5 out of 10 in must visit destinations of 2018 and how the Nepal tourism community will continue striving to promote Nepalas a prime tourist destination.
With tourism being the prime mover of development, HAN stressed how the Indian Subcontinent should draft a unique model of cooperation according to the changed landscape of global tourism. While the governments of both countries have agreed to prioritize tourism and connectivity, HAN also underlined the importance of the private sector to capitalize on this opportunity to reap the colossal benefits that the industry has to offer. Nepal and India are neighboring countries that enjoy historical age-old relations; they are two countries that share several similarities yet have numerous differences. Thus, the reason being why HAN shared it decided to organize the event in Bengaluru, providing a platform for the two countries to come together bilaterally while opening up new windows of opportunities. The Association also mentioned how this would be substantially easier now that Nepal Airlines has added a direct flight to Bengaluru that operates three times a week.
