At the launch of her 30th piece of original work The Upside Down King, Sudha Murtyji in conversation with author Vikram Sampath delves into mythology- whether it is rapidly disappearing from amongst the youth and the many ways in which it can be made more interesting for children.

Murtyji talked about her third book in the series of unusual stories in Indian mythology, where readers discover speaking bears, Ravana’s brother- the God of Wealth, and a man with thousand arms. In her discussion, she brought out the dissimilar personalities of Krishna and Rama, despite being the reincarnations of the same god, Lord Vishnu.

The conversation was followed by a Question and Answer session with the audience, where fans asked intriguing questions related to Murtyji’s books and her transformation into writing about mythology.

Sudha Murthy and writer Vikram Sampath officially unveiled The Upside Down King at Crossword Bookstores, Bengaluru in conjunction with Puffin Books imprint of Penguin India. Thereafter, fans gathered around to get their books signed by their favourite author.

“Crossword Bookstores is honoured to have hosted author Sudha Murty’s book launch. The Upside Down King is a fascinating story filled with charming facts. Murtyji is a master storyteller who has a unique style of writing and engages the modern reader. The dying genre of mythology has been revived by her writing. The Question and Answer session went splendidly with fans asking all kinds of thought-provoking questions,” says Maulik Desai, Head, Crossword Bookstores.
